Exfoliating Cleanser

Orange Shortbread

with brown sugar & almond

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F.
  2. Using an electric mixer, beat 1 cup butter in large bowl until light and fluffy. Add brown sugar and beat well. Using a rubber spatula, mix in flour, almonds, orange zest and salt (do not over mix).
  3. On a cutting board or work surface, roll out dough to 1/8-inch thickness, and cut out shapes with cookie cutters or the rims of various-size cups to make circles. The dough can also be rolled out in logs, chilled well, then sliced into disks.
  4. Place the cookies on ungreased baking sheets, sprinkle with coarse sugar, if desired, and bake until lightly golden, about 15 minutes. Allow cookies to cool slightly, then transfer to racks to cool completely. (Store cookies in airtight container).
